The 5-minute workout

Yeah click-bait-y title, but basically what I was telling someone recently.

For time-starved people like me, who want to do the minimum, and don't have time to go to a gym, here's three simple ways to get some exercise.

  1. Push-ups: all you need is a 6 x 3 floor space. If your hands hurt, get one of those ~$10 "handles". One minute is plenty.
  2. Squats: do this while brushing your teeth. If you brush your teeth twice a day and for at least a minute, it's plenty.
  3. Pull-ups: if you go with your kid to a park, hang from a bar. If you can't do a pull-up but you try, that's plenty.

All put together, this is no more than 5 minutes a day.


P.S. Of course, if you do have time, do more.

P.P.S. also, make time to walk as much as you can, sneak in a hike once a month, climb stairs when you can, etc.
