I recently started reading "Five on Treasure Island" with my daughter, which kick-started the whole series. However, I was puzzled by the absence of Enid Blyton's works from the local library and even Amazon.
To my shock, I discovered that she had been "cancelled," making her clearly one of the early figures to face such a fate (!)
Reflecting on this, I feel that society might be "over the over-reaction" now, and perhaps it's time to bring her works back. The stories hark back to a simpler time, before the use of smartphones, mobile phones, cable tv, or even television.
These books capture the essence of goodness and are naturally appealing to kids, and have a truly timeless appeal.
I believe they should never have been taken away in the first place, and my hope is that it might now be possible to re-introduce people to this old series, allowing a new generation to enjoy these classic tales.
