The Parent Privilege

A lot of talk about “privilege” has (at least in recent years) been linked to race — but privilege comes in different shapes and sizes.

One form of privilege that I have (greatly!) enjoyed is supportive parents

It’s the kind of thing you take for granted until you see more of what everyone else has, over the years.

It can feel just as awkward as being the only one with a billion dollars in a group of people.

Having parents that create a stable environment, encourage you to do more, and are supportive and understanding, is a massive privilege — and I am very grateful to have had it
